Analysis of Graphite and Carbon-Based Components Using ETV-ICP-OES

Description

Today, graphite plays an important role for many applications – in the electronic industry, as anode material in lithium-ion batteries but also in reactors or as a lubricant. Often, the purity of the graphite is crucial.

A reliable and sensitive analytical method is needed for this reason. The analysis of trace elements in graphite is rather difficult, however. Common methods, digestion and analysis using ICP-MS are time consuming and error prone.

A smarter way is the direct analysis for this reason. Electro thermal evaporation (ETV) and introduction into an ICP-OES is the perfect solution. By optimizing the vaporization of the impurities contained in the graphite matrix, extraordinary sensitivities can be achieved.

This webcast describes the ETV ICP-OES analysis of trace, minor and major elements in graphite and carbon compounds using the new SPECTRO ARCOS MultiView with fast CMOS detection system. Methodology and figures of merit will be presented.
