Fluorspar (CaF2) is an important industrial mineral which is used in a wide variety of chemical, metallurgical, and ceramic processes. The mineral is often associated with galena, sphalerite, barite, quartz, and calcite. Typical elemental analysis therefore includes a larger range of elements. To be able to distinguish between different Ca-containing minerals a screening for the samples’ fluorine content is important.
This paper outlines that the SPECTRO XEPOS ED-XRF analyzer shows a good correlation for the screening of the fluorine content in mineral samples.
