The scope of the RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances) directive limits the use of Cd, Pb, Hg and hexavalent Cr in electrical and electronic products. Starting in July 2006, the use of these materials is no longer allowed. The limiting value for Cd is 100 mg/kg and for Hg, Pb, and hexavalent Cr it is 1000 mg/kg. All components of a product must not exceed these values and thus require regular inspections.
This document describes the use of the SPECTROCUBE ED-XRF analyzer for RoHS Directive relevant applications. This instrument offers fast, non-destructive analysis without expensive sample preparation and with a small measurement point.
