Determination of Elemental Composition of Biomass Including Solid Recovered Biofuels by ED-XRF

Description

There is an increasing interest in using solid biofuels, i.e. solid organic, non-fossil material of biological origin (also known as biomass) to be used as fuel for heat production or electricity generation.

For optimum plant operation, fuel parameters like water content, ash content, and calorific value are important. In addition, the chemical composition of the biomass is important as this directly can influence the plant operation and potential air pollution. During this webinar we will review X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) as an analytical tool for this characterization, which is also described for example in ISO/TS 16996:2015: "Solid biofuels — Determination of elemental composition by X-ray fluorescence".
